Biographies
Thais Batista
- Joined La Fayette as a research analyst responsible for covering Asian and Emerging Markets hedge funds
- From 2006 to 2008, she worked on the research side of Claritas Investments, covering hedge funds in a broad geographic
scope
- Prior to Claritas, she worked at Unibanco Asset Management in Brazil from 2002 to 2006, where she participated in the
structuring of the Fund of Funds team
- Subsequently, she became responsible for the platform of offshore funds, researching, selecting and monitoring hedge
funds globally
- She was also the portfolio manager of a Fund of Brazilian Hedge Funds since its inception
- Ms. Batista holds a BA degree in Business Administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas in Brazil
Kwei-Min Braumuller
- Joined La Fayette in August 2007 as Operations Manager
- Prior to joining La Fayette, he worked as a Middle Office Professional for the Amsterdam branch of Citco Fund Services
- Before joining Citco, he worked as Custody Operations Manager for TMF Fund Services in Rotterdam
- He holds a Master of Science Degree in Business Administration from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, which
included a semester at the Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi in Milan, and a BSC. in Business Administration from
the University of the Netherlands Antilles in Curaçao
Kevin Dolan
- Joined the La Fayette Group of Funds in November 2006 as Group’s Chief Executive Officer
- Spent a decade with the AXA Group, world leaders in insurance and asset management, where he was the
Chief Executive of Axa Investment Managers in France, and subsequently Global Deputy Chief Executive of their
dedicated investment arm, managing circa €700 billion. He was also responsible for AXA’s dedicated Private Equity arm,
and was a board member of Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ) and Alliance Capital
- In 2001, he moved to LCF Rothschild as Chief Executive Officer at Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management in Paris
where he also built their dedicated Private Equity arm and launched the Rothschild’s first LBO fund
- In 2004, he moved to the Bank of Ireland group in Dublin where he was a member of the Group Executive Committee and
Chief Executive of the Asset Management Division with €60 billion under management. He also built the Bank’s
alternative businesses organised around an institutional Hedge Funds platform as well as dedicated Private Equity
boutique
- Kevin is a graduate of Georgetown University (1976)
Alison Edmunds
- Joined La Fayette in February 2006 as Chief Operations Officer. Her key focus is the organisation and co-ordination of the
various operations and financial fields of the firm
- Prior to joining La Fayette, Ms. Edmunds held CFO and COO positions at two hedge fund managers, Theorema Asset
Management Ltd (Equity Long Short) and GMP Asset Management LLP (European Event Driven)
- She was previously employed by Goldman Sachs International, where she spent over five years working in both its
Hong Kong and London offices. She initially held a product accountant role and later moved across to the Equities division
to form part of its financial management team
- Ms Edmunds received her CFA designation in 2003. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant at Deloitte and Touche in
Johannesburg, South Africa in 1995. Ms Edmunds graduated with an Honours degree in Accountancy from the
University of Stellenbosch, South Africa in 1992
Pierre Lenders
- Joined the La Fayette Group of Funds in December 2007 as Head of Risk
- Prior to La Fayette, he was based for six years in New York as CEO of Murex North America, delivering trading and risk
management technology to about 60 financial institutions, with a particular focus on derivatives, ranging from the simplest
to the most complex strategies
- Prior to this Mr. Lenders spent more than ten years at JP Morgan and two years at Bankers Trust. His initial mandates
there, from 1986 to 1994, were around arbitrage, equity options and then fixed income market-making. He was named
Managing Director in 1994, he then moved to managing trading floors in Madrid, London and Paris, and proprietary
trading around global macro opportunities
- Mr. Lenders graduated from Ecole Polytechnique in 1984 and holds a diploma in statistics and econometrics from
E.N.S.A.E (86)
Vincent Mercadier
- Joined La Fayette as a Quantitative and Risk Analyst on a full-time basis in July 2007
- He had previously been employed as a consultant for La Fayette during which time he completed an MS in Civil
Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley
- He previously graduated with a diploma in engineering from Ecole Polytechnique, Paris in 2006
Joseph Naayem
- Joined La Fayette as Head of European Research in May 2008
- From 2004 to 2008, he worked for Harcourt Investment Consulting in Zurich where he was a Director of Investment
Research covering Long Short Equity strategies
- From February 2006 he also managed the Belmont (Lux) Long Short Equity fund of fund with $200m under management
- Prior to Harcourt, Joseph worked as an Equity research analyst covering the European Consumer Goods sector at
Morgan Stanley and UBS in London. Joseph graduated from the London School of Economics with a degree in
Accounting and Finance in 1999 and is a CFA Charterholder
Rashma Patel
- Joined La Fayette in March 2008 as Operational Due Diligence Analyst to help strengthen the operational due
diligence team
- Prior to joining La Fayette she was an Assistant Manager at KPMG with over three years experience in the audit of
investment managers and mutual funds
- She became a fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) in September 2007 and also holds a BSc in Management from
the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)
Alex Rabinovich
- Joined La Fayette in April 2007
- Spent 10 years at Ivy Asset Management Corp. as a director and Portfolio Manager where he helped oversee assets in
excess of $7B. Worked as Strategy Head in charge of multi-strategy hedge fund research for three years
- Prior to working at Ivy, he worked as an analyst responsible for equity research and risk management at
Manning & Napier Advisors
- Mr Rabinovich holds an MBA Degree in Finance and Accounting form the university of Rochester’s William E. Simon
Graduate School. He received his BA Degree in Economics and Russian Studies from the University of Rochester in
1994. Mr Rabinovich is a CFA Charterholder
Leor Shapiro
- Joined the firm in April 2007 as Head of Operational Due Diligence, to manage the global operational due diligence
process and non-investment risk review for the La Fayette Group
- Mr Shapiro has completed operational due diligence reviews on well over 200 hedge funds across the United States,
Europe, Asia and South America
- Mr Shapiro is an active member of the Internal Risk Committee and has full veto rights on the Investment Committee of
the La Fayette Group
- Prior to joining the La Fayette Group, Mr Shapiro worked for over three years at RBC Capital Markets in the structured
products division of the Alternative Assets Group. At RBC, he was responsible for both operational and legal due diligence
of hedge funds across all strategies
- Prior to that, he worked as a paralegal at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York
- He holds a BS in Business Management from Binghamton University, part of the State University of New York system,
where he graduated from in 2002
André Pierre Visser
- Is the Founder of the La Fayette Group of Funds. Executive Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of
La Fayette Investment Management (UK) Ltd, Mr Visser has advised the La Fayette Group of Funds since 1992
- Prior to La Fayette, Mr Visser founded Société Parisienne de Gestion SA (SPG) in Paris in 1998, where he was
responsible for the build-up of a new private banking activity, as well as the investment management of the firm’s assets
– Prior to that, Mr Visser was active with MSD (Merck, Sharp & Dohme) from 1978 until 1986, and with Central Soya from
1971 until 1977
- He graduated from Essec (Paris) in 1971 and holds a BA in Economics from the University of Lille (France)
Laurent Visser
- Research Analyst for the U.S. market
- Prior to joining La Fayette in August 2003, Mr. Visser was active at Citco Fund Services (CFS) as a fund accountant,
responsible for all financial reporting for a portfolio of hedge funds
- Prior to CFS, he was the assistant to the Finance Director at Infogrames UK (the leading European videogames company
- renamed Atari) responsible for financial reporting
– Following his graduation in 1988, he worked for a year in Cambodia, developing different business projects.
- Mr. Visser
holds a 4 year Business degree from Ecole Superieure des Sciences Commerciales d’Angers (France). He graduated
in 1998
